Missions Statement of Purpose: The ministry of missions is dedicated primarily to the fulfillment of the Great Commission: "Go therefore into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Evangelism: The First Priority World evangelization is the emphasis of the Assemblies of God, and the Department of Foreign Missions is deeply committed to the biblical mandate to take the gospel to all lands. Missions works are active in more than 140 nations. Nearly 30 million adult members and adherents in our churches overseas testify to the evangelical fervor of our missionaries and the national churches. Almost 60 percent of the world's people do not have an adequate witness of Jesus Christ. The task is enormous and must be met "not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts." Church Planting: Our missions efforts seek to establish indigenous churches. The establishment
of self supporting, self governing, self propagating churches is the
hallmark of Assemblies of God missions. These churches unite to form
national church organizations which maintain fraternal relations with
the US Assemblies of God. National churches work together with the
US church to reach the most people in the shortest period of time.
More than 180,000 churches and outstations by 175,000 ministers attest
to the effectiveness of this biblical church planting strategy. The missions strategy of the Division of Foreign Missions of the Assemblies of God is the widest possible evangelization of the spiritually lost through every available means, the establishment of indigenous churches after the New Testament pattern, the training of national believers to proclaim the gospel to their own people and to other nations, and the showing of compassion for suffering people in a manner representing the love of Jesus Christ.
